Christine Newman is a published author, educator, and speaker. She has been an LGBTQ activist and advocate for 36 years, and has been the founder or a founding member of a number of LGBTQ organizations. She has been involved in mental health advocacy work for 25 years, using her lived experience as a mental health warrior to focus on PTSD and PTSD-related illnesses, and first responder mental health and support.
She is working with mental health organizations to bring inclusiveness on LGBTQ issues into their programming and training seminars. Christine works with various police services across Canada and overseas, and recently completed 20 years with the Toronto Police Service where she worked on a number of programs and initiatives, including her role as the Civilian Co-Chair of the CCC and contributing to the Guide to Police Services for the transgender community.
In 2017 she helped develop and roll out the Gender Transition Guide for Home Depot Canada, for use by management and transgender associates to educate and inform them.
